BARRY THE WORM lives with friends and foes in and around the vegetable garden of a small farm. Their world is almost perfect until Nature and the Environment start to change. The bugs and insects realise they need to be more aware of what they call the GREEN FIVE. These are: the CLIMATE on their planet, their HEALTH, the protection of NATURE, the preservation of EARTH and the TIME they have left to save our planet!

Barry ia a clever, adventurous and very likeable Worm. He is interested in everything under the sun and will always try to do the right thing, but sometimes fails like all of us.

His best friend is FRED – a stuttering caterpillar, who dreams to become a butterfly one day.

Barry is deeply in love with a big black Slug, called Molly – he thinks she is the most beautiful girl in the world but Barry has often a hard time with her, as Molly is a very bitchy character. She finds it hard to admit that she is in love with Barry too.

Another good friend of Barry and his mentor is The Colonel who reminds us of Colonel Hathi in Jungle Book. The Colonel is a rather pompous elderly beetle, a former officer of an India Cavalry regiment and quite a gentleman. He wears a black wig and actually runs a wig and a gentlemen’s attire shop under a tree near the vegetable garden. Other main characters are: Rodriquez – a grasshopper of Latin descent, who thinks that he is the sexiest male in the world, Raphael – a gay ladybug, who runs a beauty parlour in the garden with all female bugs as clients, Number Three – the leader of a Japanse pack of ants, who’s always polite, but very opportunistic and not to be trusted, Humphrey – a big black bug, grumpy and the most misanthropic character in the world an last but not least Rupert – a crazy crow, who is the natural enemy of them all, but at the same time sort of accepted because of the fact that he is most of the time a lousy hunter and actually a sort of acquaintance.
